Every year hundreds of Gypsies and Travellers arrive at West Ardsley for Lee Gap Horse Fair. The fair has taken place for over 1000 years and was chartered by King Stephen in 1139, which makes it the oldest fair in England!
The fair takes place twice a year , First O'Lee on the 24th August and Latter Lee on the 17th September (exc Sundays).
A reprise for now means that this year's fair can go ahead again but future years are unlikely as the land has been sold for a new housing estate!
